Delegation from Samburu County visited Greece for knowledge in tourism

Ten elected members of the Samburu County Assembly visited Greece from 5th to 12th of October 2014, in order to draw knowledge in the fields of tourism and destination management. During their visit they were warmly welcomed by the Vice Governor of Peloponnesus, Mrs. Adamantia Tzanetea and the senior officials of the Athens Development & Destination Management Agency. 

The Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Kenya in the Hellenic Republic arranged their program of visits and presentations in order for the delegation to be fully informed regarding the destination management and marketing and succesful cases in Hellas.

On Monday 6th of October 2014, the delegation were welcomed by the Athens Development & Destination Management Agency where Mrs. Kalliopi Andriopoulou, public relations director and Mr. George Aggelis, press and media manager presented the succesful model of the city of Athens as a tourism and MICE destination.

On Friday 10th of October 2014, the delegation were welcomed by the Vice Governor of Prefecture of Peloponnesus Mrs. Adamantia Tzanetea in Sparta where the members of Samburu County had the opportunity to learn more about the history of the region. The Speaker of Samburu County Assembly Mr. Steve Lelegwe addressed a proposal for cooperation between the two regions in the fields of tourism, agriculture and entrepreneurship.

The delegation during their visit had the opportunity to attend presentation from experts in the fields of tourism destination management and marketing, ecotourism and tourism education. They also visited the Hellenic Agency for Environmental Protection, the Hellenic Center for Marine Research, the Technological & Cultural Park of Lavrion and the Marathon Run Museum.
