THE HON. CONSUL OF KENYA TO THE 2ND EDITION OF THE ELDORET CITY MARATHON

The Hon. Consul of Kenya, Mrs. V. Pantazopoulou, at the 2nd Eldoret Marathon.

 

The Hon. Consul of Kenya in Greece, Mrs. Vicky  Pantazopoulou, attended the successful 2nd edition of the Eldoret City Marathon which took place on April 2019 in Eldoret, capital city of Uasin Gishu County. Mrs. Pantazopoulou was officially invited to attend by the Governor of the County, Hon. Jackson A. Mandago. The theme of this year’s event was “Climate Action” with emphasis on environmental conservation.

 

CELEBRATION OF AFRICA DAY 2019 IN ATHENS

On May 9, 2019 the 2nd Africa Day Conference was successfully held in Athens under the aegis of the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs (venue: the MFA auditorium “Yiannos Kranidiotis”). The event was organized by the Embassies and Hon. Consulates of African countries accredited to Greece. The theme for all 2019 events, as decided by the African Union, was “Refugees, Returnees and Internally Displaced Persons: Towards Durable Solutions”. This issue as well as the good relations Greece continues to enjoy with countries of the African continent was highlighted by all invited speakers.

EDUCATIONAL TOUR IN THE REGION OF PELOPONNESE

Within the context of the educational tours in Greece organized by the Hon. Consulate of Kenya in Greece, members of the Machakos County Assembly – Kenya were on an educational tour in the Region of Peloponnese from April 6 to April 12 2019. The aim was to be informed on agroindustrial issues. Head of the Kenyan delegation was Mrs. Florence Muoti Mwangangi, Speaker to the Assembly. Mrs. Vicky Pantazopoulou, Hon. 17th African Food, Music and Handicraft Festival

The Kenya Community in Athens participated in the 17th African Food, Music and Handicrafts Festival (date: May 12-13, 2018 – venue: Libyan School in Athens) organized by the African Embassies and Honorary Consulates accredited to the Hellenic Republic in collaboration with the communities.  Each year the Festival showcases and promotes the rich and diverse African culture and heritage including cuisine, handicrafts, music, dance and fashion show. Part of the funds raised from the Festival will be donated this year to the Greek NGO “The Smile of the Child”.
